Michael Buholzer is a Zurich based photographer specialized in advertising, corporate, reportage and portrait photography.

Born in 1982 he grew up in the central Swiss town of Lucerne.

Michael discovered his passion for photography as a child whilst accompanying his father, a journalist, on a reporting assignment. Michael published his first photography assignment, covering a state visit of U.S. First Lady Hillary Clinton in a Swiss magazine at the age of 15. Following this, he began to work as a freelance photojournalist for a Swiss daily newspaper. Michael was trained for four years at a studio for advertising photography, graduating as a professional advertising photographer. He then went of to focus his work in photo journalism and worked for newspapers, magazines and as a contract and staff photographer for the international news agencies Reuters and Agence France-Presse.

In 2013 he started his own business as an independent photographer for editorial and corporate clients. Beside that he works on personal photo projects.

He loves the mountains, woods, heavy rain and potato salad. If Michael is not behind his camera, he's probably eating the freshly grown tomatoes from his vegetable patch and wonders where all the Swiss mountains came from.

Michael lives with his wife, the three children and dog in Zurich.
